 God Taught My School Today

I woke up today on the wrong side of bed,

The thought of a school day near filled me with dread.

And deep under blankets I wanted to stay,

So I just asked God to teach school for today.

My routine was slow and my breakfast was sad,

Today it just seemed that I couldn't be glad,

From down in my chair I sighed 'Would it be odd, 

Could you please go teach in my school today, God?'

And when I let God take control of the school,

From that moment on the day turned out real cool.

He told me the words that I needed to say,

Cuz he was the teacher of classes today.

'Twas God who then said 'Let us go for a run.'

'Twas God who then said 'Let us get this work done.'

'Twas God who then told them what games they should play,

'Twas God who did teach all my classes today.

Alone, all my courage was not half enough,

So God stood up front and taught students new stuff.

Did they feel the difference from yesterday?

And did they know God had been teaching today?

I had a great day and the students did, too. 

The rest of the year I know just what I'll do.

I know what I say will not fill you with fear,

I asked God to teach for the rest of the year.
